FLOORING

Experience the Enduring Beauty of a polished concrete floor on your next project

Liquidstone polished concrete floors offers the ultimate in durability and design versatility from only 10mm thick!

Perfect for retail, hospitality, commercial and residential applications, Liquidstone polished concrete floors are design to be cast in-situ over your existing concrete slab and consist of a unique polymer modified formula allowing for thin, self levelling floor toppings from only 10mm thick!

Why choose a Liquidstone polished concrete overlay (PCO) system for your flooring project?

Liquidstone Polished Concrete Overlay (PCO) is preferred in most applications for it’s superior design flexibility, workability, speed of installation and cost effectiveness. The thin set overlay material is an engineered specifically for use as a polished concrete topping.

The optimum thickness for laying this type of floor is between 10-15mm. If the floor topping needs to be thicker then installing a specifically designed floor screed is recommended and this can be installed either bonded or un-bonded.

Other Design Considerations Include...

Colour / Aggregate: The this set overlay is available in white, light grey or grey and can be combined with a coloured oxide providing almost limitless colour options. Our preferred oxides are sourced locally from Peter Fell Ltd

Control joints / divider strips: Saw cuts or control joints in the base slab must be mirrored through to the topping slab to mitigate any risk of cracks appearing in the topping slab. There are various designs and materials available which when properly treated can enhance the overall look at feel of the floor. Additional brass or aluminium can be added as decorative inlays, or to form graphic designs, logo’s etc. Any cuts, cracks or chases in the base slab need to be addressed and repaired prior to laying the floor. Typically concrete base slab is surveyed immediately after preparing the base slab to identify any remedial action required.

Grinding / polishing and sealing: Once the floor has been installed to the manufacturers recommendations the topping slab can be ground and polished to achieve the desired look and feel - everything from a satin finish with little or no aggregate exposure (burnished effect) through to a high gloss with full aggregate exposure. The grinding and polishing sequence also determines the slip resistance qualities of the floor.

Installation: After the sub-base is prepped and ready we can typically cast up to 150- 200m2 p/ day and the floor is walkable within 2-3 hours. Ideally the floor should be cast, ground and sealed prior to other finishing trades (skirting, painting, cabinetry etc) completing their work. The floor can then be protected until the project is ready for handover to the client.

Lead times: We carry a limited stock of the product locally so for larger projects we recommend allowing up to 12 weeks for shipping.

Cleaning and Maintenance: The topping slab is finished and sealed using a combination of a specially designed densifier and sealer which hardens and protects the surface. Cleaning and maintenance procedures and ongoing maintenance are available on request.

For further detailed information please refer to the Guide specification.

Pricing: Prices range from $235p/m2 for a simple 10mm overlay in a burnished effect through to $500+ p/m2 for a high end floor including screed, decorative inlays etc in a highly polished finish.
